can of tuna - 150 calories
8 oz milk - 120 calories
2 pieces of bread for tuna - 200 calories
Thats ~470 calories
You can make your own shake which will cover a meal by itself. If you choose to buy protein powder just follow this:
-banana
-2 tbsps peanut butter
-8 oz milk
-2 scoops protein powder
Thats 600 calories alone, and can be done in 5 minutes.

I glanced over it and it seems to have merit, but is way too extreme for me to bother ever living by it. Not drinking milk? Eating beef?

Buy some plate loading dumbbells is my suggestion. I bet they'd be cheap on craigs list or something.
