The Howling (1981)
For whatever reason by the late '70's early '80's there was a revival in werewolf movies and this was one of the frontrunners. It's got a pretty decent score and the effects are pretty impressive for the time. This movie definitely had a profound impact on Neil Marshall's 2002 debut film
Dog Soldiers, especially with how the werewolves looked. That said though, the film isn't perfect, it has a really strong and profound opening, then just kind of rides this wave of quality, dipping and raising throughout the movie. There's one really memorable sequence with a lady on the phone, but besides that the movie did have some problems.
