Yeah, the demo I posted was Mantas era if I recall correctly. I just call all Mantas era demos... Death. For the sake of simplicity, really.
Actually, before I moved to Montana, I had a two cd collection of bootleg CDs of Death/Mantas demos and rehearsals from "Devil Metal" recordings. It had a quote from Kam Lee in the insert, but I dunno if he was involved in the release. Either way, yeah, I really love that early ****.
But when you get down to it, really, the proto-extreme metal sound is probably my favorite at the moment. Whether it be death, grind, or black metal.... I love it.
Master's Unreleased 1985 Album is amazing. With some variation in what songs are included and how those songs are played, this album was released several times - as Deathstrike, The Speckmann Project, etc.... all of them are fun, and it's a great study in how the sound of extreme metal evolved.
