They are SO different at every incarnation. It is almost unfair to lump it all as "Fleetwood Mac" .
Peter Green's version was great. Solid Blues rock and I like almost all of it. After he left and Bob Welch joined they released "Future Games". What a great album, yet so completely different than anything they had done before. Like a whole different band. "Sentimental Lady" off Bare Trees was great, and a better version than Welch's solo version a few years later, which is the one most people know from the 70s.
Then Kirwan left and Welch was pretty much the leader at that point. I really like the song "Hypnotized" with that lineup. They released only 2 with Welch at the helm, and then he left and enter Buckingham/Nicks.
Again a radically different sounding band emerged with 1975's self-titled album. Another great album followed by probably the best FM album of all, Rumours. I agree with whoever said Top 10 of all time. So diverse and very good all the way through.
