I was down at the lake district not long ago, it also was so beautiful. It was sunny too which made it a nice place to be. Loch Ard was pissing down and I'd just done 10k mountain biking followed by canoeing, needless to say I was ****ing freezing!

. You could get a virgin train to Glasgow Central station Stu, it only takes about 4hrs. I'm not sure how you would get up to the highlands from there though. I need to follow your advice and get up there sooner rather than later.
