That is the same reason I'm doing mine. I love broadening my taste. I've rewatched a few films but I'd say 95% are films I haven't seen before. Nearly 300 isn't stretching it that much, a few movies in a weekend and at least one per week. I like what I'm seeing and there is a little bit of overlap between what I've seen and stuff I'm queuing up.
BTW, loved seeing 'A Boy and His Dog' in your list. The description alone got in in my que before just about anything else... but I still haven't watched it.
