Interesting that you dislike Kubrick's other films for their coldness, but like 2001. I find 2001 to be the most cold, technical and impersonal of his movies, but all of this is in a good way of course. It shows the insignificance of humans in the galaxy and our increasing reliance on tools (progressing to machines).
