So I was mistaken when I thought I bought the movie that inspired the American remake, or at least I was sort of mistaken. This is actually the third movie in the Japanese series and not entirely the source material used in the 2004 remake. I have to say I was a little disappointed with it, it had some okay atmosphere, but compared to the 2001 film
Pulse it's about as subtle as a clown with his co
ck out. The pacing is all over the place, but it really didn't have that intense staring contest I like about J-horror, and the story became really hard to follow because of the time and perspective jumping. This wasn't helped by the fact that my friend and I were drinking and smoking pot, but we did have to pause the film on two occasions to try and sort out the plot, even going so far as to try and make a flowchart on a white board. So yeah... this may actually be one of those occasions where the Americanized version is better, at least for this series... and maybe
