He got hit by a taxi while riding a hired moped on the second to last day.
He died the next week with complications (internal injuries).

The very next year we went to Benidorm and all got back safely in one piece.
Although there was another group of lads from our home town (who we knew but didn't hang about with) and they lost a friend when he fell from a hotel balcony.
This was the late 80's. A time when "Lads" holidays abroad were relatively new and very cheap. Beer included.
Anyone who's old enough to remember those days won't be in the least bit surprised at what went on back then. Like I said...crazy days.
