One more note.
The way I interpret something applies only to me. I don't tell people not to listen to XY and Z because I personally find something offensive in the lyrics. There are songs I like that have liberal use of the word fa*got, such as those by Childish Gambino or "Money for Nothing." It really depends on context and the vibe that I get when I hear the music.
I personally think the context of Public Enemy's homophobic lyrics rings very clear. It's great that Chuck D has come out in support of gay rights, but there are multiple reasons I steer clear of them. Homophobia is only one.
