New jazz terms!
A couple months ago, I was at my jazz ensemble, when I created two new jazz terms. They are straightforward and can help one remember order of chords.
ii-V fake-out - A situation when there is a ii and a V but other than the I. ii-V fake-outs usually come in pairs, but sometimes the composer sneaks one in the middle to mix things up.
ii-V mountain hike - A situation where there is a ii and a V and instead of resolving to the I, it takes the iii then the six. It's like climbing up a mountain, then you have to come down. What do you do? ii-V-I. Therefore the pattern is
ii-V-iii-VI7(7-chord instead of minor)-ii-V-I
(going up) (coming down)
What do you think of these terms
