Freak folk is a genre of folk music associated with contemporary artists such as Faun Fables, Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, CocoRosie, Panda Bear, Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Bowerbirds, Woods, Greg Weeks, Akron/Family, Rio en Medio, Ariel Pink and with artists of the 1960s and 1970s such as The Incredible String Band, Vashti Bunyan, Holy Modal Rounders, The Godz, and The Fugs.
