I'm no music theory expert, neither. But I'm pretty sure they never occur in Heavy Metal. Mostly likely you don't hear them in hip hop music unless there is a song that is sampled & looped that has one - which I don't know if there is. Punk usually sticks to Fifth chord - like e.g. Johnny Ramone. Blues usually sticks to I, IV, V chords, most of which are 7th and if it's influences by Jazz, R&B or Funk it will have more jazzier chords it might have 9th & 11th.Country stick to 1-4-5 too and Folk usually use turn arounds, a mix of Major and minor chords. And Altetnative well they use different tricks like de-tunings or movable chords, or accidentals for dissonance. Jazz knows all the chords, Maj & min 6th/7th but I doubt if they use augemnted at all.

Trust me on this 99.999% of songs you hear do not contain Augmented chords. Only a few Beatles songs
