I may be a little nit-picky here but I still have a problem with that statement. Your boyfriend shouldn't
let you do anything. It still implies control. I'm guessing and hoping that's not really the case and perhaps not worded the best. But you are both just individuals in a partnership, which heavily requires respect and support for the others' decisions and lifestyle.
