In the movie, Thor Heyerdahl and a small crew of some norwegians and a swede set out to prove that it was possible by doing the journey themselves by building a balsa raft and sailing it 5000 miles from Peru to Polynesia.

The movie was well done, often beautiful, exciting, sort of to the point and not as excessive in style like so many movies are. The actors did a good job and it's about a piece of Norwegian scientific history that we can feel proud of. The movie is controversial here for its character assasination of Herman Watzinger, a member of the crew who was brave and handsome in real life, but is portrayed in the movie as chubby and scared for the sake of dramaturgy. Nevertheless, I doubt non-norwegians would care about that.

5/6!
Sounds very interesting actually. I'll have to check it out.
