Crom—The Cocaine Wars: 1974-1989
First of all, let me just say the juxtaposition of the this album cover and album title is the funniest s
hit I've encountered since Ecce Mono (and the
back cover makes it even funnier). The sound of the album itself reminds me of a cross between Today is the Day and powerviolence, with a great sense of humor. Or maybe it just sounds like hardcore taking a s
hit on the entire history of heavy metal. Is the album a little too long? Probably. Does it meander a little too often? Probably. But it plays like a road trip with a coked up friend who keeps changing the radio station every thirty seconds as you traverse a bleak land where every radio station broadcasts either heavy metal or clips from 80s movies. And that's really not a bad thing.
