I think it's more to do with the after-effects of herion. Being on the "run". You get driven and lose sense. I'm on a lot of sedatives medically (granted they are not the same as opiates) and when I don't take one dose it's quite earth-shattering and everything's on speed. It's just a theory though, I'm no expert.
