I unfortunately do not know of any dark southern gospel bands (if I did, I would be all over that ****). I do recommend, however, searching into the roots of gospel music, which is primarily old Delta blues, and traditional hymns. I suggest looking into Blind Lemon Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, and Robert Johnson. And any other delta blues musician whose name has "Johnson" in it.

Also, if you don't know what Last.FM is, go to that website and look around at the related artists to the artists I just told you, and look at the gospel and blues pages for inspiration.

There may also be some steampunk artists that you all would like. Maybe Reverend Glasseye and his Wooden Legs, Vernian Process, Clare Fader & The Vaudevillains, Evelyn Evelyn.
