Well there's War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, which is a short but classic story about Martian invasion. About post-apocalyptic or dystopian settings, two of my favourites are 1984 by George Orwell and The Hamdmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I don't know if you've read those already though, sorry if you have!
