I've been listening to a bit of Sonic Youth. They've been a tough artist for me because as cool as they seem they have never really clicked with me. Might not be my thing, or I simply haven't put enough effort into listening to them...can't figure it out. I have the trilogy of Evol/Sister/Daydream Nation that I'm listening to on occasion, but so far I haven't felt much. Sometimes I enjoy myself while listening to them and sometimes I end up getting bored and not paying any attention. |
You should try some of their early 90's major-label stuff instead maybe. Goo and Dirty are a bit more accessible than EVOL, Sister and Daydream Nation but both are still cracking albums.
Speaking of Sister it's often been said that 'Schizophrenia' sums up what Sonic Youth are all about. It's got everything that makes them so great.
