Devin Townsend's last few albums have had some good experimental stuff on them, particularly
Deconstruction (2011), but
Ghost (2011) might feature some more radio friendly content.
There's an electronic/downtempo artist from Montreal called Elsaine who has a very unusual sounding voice, so that might be something to look out for.
NoMeansNo definitely had some more experimental sounding punk albums, particularly their seminal 1989 album
Wrong.
VoiVod also had some progressive/experimental stuff going on, especially their late '80's stuff.
I'd ask mr. dave, he might have some more recommendations.
