Yesterday I created a spotify playlist with the original Nas album followed by the Elzhi album versions back to back.

Track 1 is Nas "The Genesis"
Track 2 Elzhi "The Genesis"
Track 3 Nas "Halftime" etc.

Have been enjoying comparing the 2, listening to it back to back it really highlights the differences between the backing music also.

Also watched this earlier about Nas Illmatic, didn't realise he was only 18 when he recorded it and that his dad (a musician) played horn on an album track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=b3oez_FRogI
