I like Maggie Reilly, who worked with Mike Oldfield, successfully, and Chris Thompson & Night, less successfully - although Thompson is a great singer.

Judy Tzuke and Catherine Howe have lovely voices in my opinion. I read that Catherine had studied for an Open University degree, so she may not be singing much these days. Her albums are as scarce as hens' teeth.

I much prefer Rumer to any of the new batch of female singers. The fact that she is plain and has a subtle Karen Carpenter-style endears me to her. This has prompted me to remember that Toni Tennille was compared unfavourably to Karen Carpenter, but I prefer Toni.

Elkie Brooks with Vinegar Joe was quite raunchy in those days. Maggie Bell had a punchy voice too.
