Default Monstrosity

In 2002, I was laid off and collecting unemployment for the first time in my life, and as it were, I decided to just take the time and be a bum. My good friend Pete (from Zoetrope fame) came at me with the idea of recording an album. I was game, so we started by having Pete kind of hum a rythm he'd hear in his head, and I'd try and nail it on guitar. We'd agree on the simple rythms, and he'd leave me to my devices. I'd lay down the tracks on guitar, and looped drums from my small Zoom pedal, and add accent cymbals and such through a program called Rythmania that came with my SoundBlaster audio card. I'd run it all through CoolEdit, and then have him come over to sing. All we had to use for vocals was one of those tiny condenser mics on a stand that came with PC's at the time. So, Pete would turn the lights down, light a couple candles and belt out the tunes... usually a few takes before he was satisfied. Then I'd mix them down into the final recording. Here is the result of me being an unemployed guitar player with a friend that had been in the music industry. I know the quality is very rough and I didn't really understand proper recording techniques at the time, but feel free to review/comment if you'd like.

Just in time for Halloween...
