I know super manly sailors used to knit. And I knew someone when I was in college who create three dimensional household objects out of knitting. That's really the only contribution I have to the thread unfortunately.
Nevertheless I do think it's cool even if, as chronically hot person, it's very rare for me to wear anything that's knitted.
