Nighthawks (US 1981), which has an excellent cast: Nigel Davenport, the late Persis Khambatta, Lyndsey Wagner, Billy Dee Williams, Rutger Hauer (in his first Hollywood film) and Sylvester Stallone (in one of his better efforts). The story is quite simple and involves two NYC cops pitched against ruthless international terrorists, as opposed to their usual routine of rounding up muggers on the streets. Keith Emerson provided a score which combined the cliches of seventies cop soundtracks with his own inimitable style, producing an amazing hybrid. When Nighthawks was released, I did not understand the film or the soundtrack, now they both seem way ahead of their time.
