The fact it isn't a joyous merry song about Christmas Trees and following stars to Bethlehem. It's clearly geared in a way to highlight the negative aspects of the season through the eyes of a down-on-his-luck drunk.
It's picked up by people who think that it is the antithesis of what a traditional Christmas song should sound like.
