Yeah that sounds a little like him, this guys just old school and is really strict. I think he went overboard, but older folks seem to be a bit more sensitive about these things. If a person was just joking with me light-heartedly about it then it wouldn't bother me at all, although I'd probably underwhelm people saying with my boring flat midlands accent. If a person made a joke about it in more serious tones then we've got issues.
