Indeed he did, and while he had problems I still think he triumphed over a lot of potential for complete failure. I think in some cases what leaves people with certain problems in life, can also serve as the inspiration behind their creative genius. Also personality wise as well, cause given Hendrix's upbringing I'd be willing to bet based off of just what I've read and seen that he was for the underdog in life. Despite whatever vices or other problems he may have had that stemmed from his upbringing as well. For him it was like the curse that was his cure but did the good out weigh what we deem the bad enough to label him respectable? Yeah...by a longshot imo.
