Farcry 3
If you're having any reservations about getting this game because of some of the dodgy design decisions from
Farcry 2, disregard them and get the game. As much as I hate the marketing parallels, it really is
Skyrim but with guns. You've got a big open sandbox full of interesting things to do and some really interesting characters with Vaas (the scary looking pirate on the cover) being the standout villain of 2012. All the combat missions are a lot of fun and have multiple paths to traverse and the character upgrades are all useful and make it easy to figure out what kind of style you want to play. Highly recommended if you need something to keep you entertained during these cold winter months.
