Taking nothing away from the greats before Peterson, but I think with the way the game has evolved Peterson is more impressive. The schemes, and substitutions, and just overall athletes themselves are on a different level in todays NFL. Deffenses are faster, bigger, and stronger than they were back then and the science of game planning only adds to the complexity and difficulty rb's see today. At the end of the day you still have to execute the fundamentals, but I would venture to say that some of the greats of yesterday might not find it as easy to run through the Ray Lewis's and other stars of todays NFL.
