How the **** is it possible for Bathory to have stumbled upon two of my all time favorite forms of metal. First they pioneered first wave black metal, and were, after Slayer, my introduction to extreme metal, and still the greatest black metal band to strap on guitars. Then, if four albums of sheer, hideous perfection weren't enough, Bathory stops on a dime, completely changes direction, and lets loose with the most gloriously epic metal album ever made, filled with (non-cheesy) Viking laden, riff mastery. Quorthon is a ****ing god.
