Second time I've seen it, but it's been a couple of years. Wow is all I can say. Not too many modern horror films impress me these days, the genre is not exactly a gold mine of creativity at the moment, however this film blew me away. While not scary in the traditional sense, the story managed to be both disturbing and touching at the same time. How much darker does it get then the two protagonists of a film making a pact to kill together (one with the desire, the other with the need)? Despite the dark subject matter and the violence, the story and the relationship between the two remains incredibly powerful and the performance from the boy and the girl are superb. On top of that, the cinematography was sublime and added another layer to the atmosphere of the film. I haven't seen the American remake but I can't imagine it living up to this film.
