Default More or less New - Hi All

I registered last year, but only had a handful of posts. My "regular" forum has been having so many technical issues I decided I need a new home for music discussion. Seems like a good group to talk about music with!

"Classic rock" is probably my favorite genre, being as wide a melting-pot as it is, but I really dig blues, rock, metal, jazz, bluegrass, country, classical... not a huge fan of rap, although I did get into some of it in the 90s. Pretty much anything with guitars is good with me. I grew up listening to only metal and hard rock - if it didn't have pointy guitars and Marshall stacks I wasn't interested. Then I went through a huge blues phase for several years, and that's pretty much all I was into. Then I broadened out again, getting into jazz and country, and focused on songwriting (Lucinda Williams was a big influence).

Started playing guitar when I was 16, been playing ever since. I was in a lot of bands up until about 8-9 years ago when I got too busy with a new job. Now I have a 4 year old son so I just play for myself, but I do practice virtually every day. Hopefully when he's older and I can start gigging again I'll have a lot to show for my 'woodshedding' time.

Top 5 Albums:
1) Electric Ladyland
2) Dark Side of the Moon (alternates into #1 spot depending on the day)
3) Band of Gypsies
4) Live at the Fillmore East (The Allman Brothers Band)
5) Master of Puppets

Standard stuff, but they're all classic for a reason.

Favorite Band: The Allman Brothers
Most Under-rated Sabbath Frontman: Tony Martin
Favorite Jazz Guitarist: Joe Pass
Favorite Blues Guitarist: BB King (he's the King for a reason!)
Favorite Rock Guitarist: David Gilmour
Favorite Bassist: Victor Wooten
Favorite Songwriter: Lucinda Williams
Getting Into Lately: Joe Bonamassa
Favorite Rhythm Section: Danny Carey & Justin Chancellor from Tool.
Favorite Non-Guitar Instrument: Electric Piano - such a cool, distinct sound.
