Probably due to the classic feel of the originals.
Speaking of the Phantom Menace in 3D, I saw that as well, and I loved it. I had completely forgotten what a good story that movie told, but I really enjoyed it, even though there wasn't a whole lot of 3D throughout the movie. Maybe that's just me.
