I think our conscience is switched off and that our bodies lose their finer organization and decompose. The parts that make our bodies can be eaten by other animals, perhaps picked up by fungi, plants, bacteria or other single celled organisms. Or, depending on where you die, perhaps it will be preserved for a long time, f.ex frozen on Antarctica, fossilized in a river bed or mummified in a pyramid.

Something happens to our bodies, but we've lost our ability then to sense, reflect on or experience anything.

I don't think that option is in your poll.

Why would you define life as consciousness? Isn't someone who's brain damaged to the point of justifying being called a vegetable, but who's bodies are still working, alive? Or what about the bacteria in your guts? I'd say yhey're alive and doing a rather important job in your body. Are they conscious?
