Well, why not? I think there's room enough in the world of music for all different approaches. The interesting thing with that approach is that it inverts the normal role of vocals, making them more of an ambient element to the music rather than the focal point.

I agree, and would add that I don't think everything needs to be sweet and melodious all the time.
