As long as you're thinking of him, you're investing.
Sure, learn from the mistakes. Sure, learn from your own. But don't feel like you need to right a wrong by affecting him. That won't actually do anything for you. If you guys are really done, that's all you need. It doesn't need to go beyond that.
Well, it shouldn't. And I understand why it does. But the thought process should be to move forward, not waste both your time enforcing how much distaste for a past situation you currently have.
