If you like Bob Dylan a whole bunch, then I'd go for
On the Beach. A lot of the songs sound very Dylan-inflected, even considering Neil's love for the man; it's in his vocal delivery especially, but also the way he does meandering folky tunes on the second half/side (I mean that in a good way). It's also one of Young's most eclectic works and one of his darkest in the era he wrote it. Otherwise,
Zuma's probably my favorite,
Harvest is the easiest starting point and is also pretty damn good,
Tonight's the Night is among his most rockinest and is also very dark and moody, and
Ragged Glory is a great late era one, with real heavy jams and all.
Psychedelic Pill, his latest, is also a really interesting album, with loooong heavy jams and more subdued folky numbers. It's very nostalgic in a neat way.
OH:
Everyone Knows... is realllly good too, I just haven't listened to it in awhile. His debut is very similar to it, and they're both great, more in line with the folk rock he initially got famous for.
