FUUUUCK Sly Stone. He never gave a crap about his fans or his musical legacy. It was just an avenue for him to stay high...and his positive messages were marketing gimmicks just to keep people supporting his habit.

Same here. I did not know about this back then. A friend mentioned this yesterday and we went and looked up the Youtube footage. While I am not surprised, it certainly changes my view of Sly and puts his other antics in a different perspective. The comments at Youtube by those that think that Sly was the positive element in the exchange are disturbing and doubly so because they are so predictable in the post-Powell-Memo United States.
