They've definitely got character but they also are talented musicians so they don't solely rely on their quirkiness (which you saw as annoying)

As far as I can remember I only listened to it once and didn't particularly like it. I was stumbling through music on one of my external HDs yesterday, came across their album and thought about giving it another go. I'll give it a listen today and look for those traits you've mentioned.
