Default The SLANG Thread.

I'm Scottish therefore about 85% of my vocabulary is slang .

I'm always interested in learning slang from other countries, so this can be a place we share them!

I shall start .

First of all I will start with some pretty simple stuff...

AYE - used instead of yes.

NAW - used instead of no.

BALTIC (ball-tick) - used when its freezing outside.

BOAK (bow-k) - to heave.

FEART (fe-ir-t) - to be scared.

SKELP - to hit someone.

JESSIE - to be a wimp.

SKINT - having no money (story of my life! My family say I should get "am skint" tattooed on me I say it that often)

HACKIT - ugly

BREEKS - trousers

And that's all I can think of.

We also say words in the wrong context, for instance;

I would say "How does that happen?" Instead of saying "why does that happen?"
