The last time I spent any time at the beach was when I was working in Hawaii for a music festival, in the summers of 2005 and 2006. Some of the locals turned me on to a lot of traditional Hawaiian and ukelele music. Jake Shimabukuro was one of the artists who performed for a festival fundraiser--I didn't get to see him perform live, but I enjoy his recordings quite a bit:
