Colin Stetson - New History Modern Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light
This album is good, but I didn't find it to be as astounding as New History Modern Warfare Vol. 2: Judges because he's using the same tricks. That being said, some of the songs get very heavy and cacophonous while some lapse into more mellow areas. I thought that the opener was a bit disappointing with the guest singer Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Bon Iver, who did far better on the song "Who the Waves Are Roaring For (Hunted III)", which is also one of the best tracks on the album. It's still more of the same, and fortunately for Stetson the same is still pretty interesting. 4/5
Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog - Your Turn
Decent album. A lot of fantastic songs but also a few duds that either fizzle out early or just seem like filler. Some great solos from Ribot, as to be expected, but we get to hear more of the band's dynamic as a whole as opposed to Ribot being the key portion of the songs. 3/5
