Their lyrics have reoccurring themes of paranoia, inadequacy, and failure. Perhaps the staleness fits the lyrics. They make music about being stuck in an attitude that takes us nowhere (discluding "Breaking the habit"), but maybe that's why there music sounds stuck (reiterate). I enjoy their music.
