I really only listened to Macalpine and as you said it really doesn't register like it used to. As I get older I appreciate a more subdued approach to playing. I've always been more of a band guy then a solo guitar outfit thrown together with session guys in general. Doesn't discredit how good some of those guys can be, but I find a different type of cohesion with regard to guys that always play together and remain together.
