I really admired the cinematography in "The Shining" - you know how the lighting and direction of some films is just ... pretty? That was one of the things I liked best. I was also reminded of how much I love Jack Nicholson. Every role he's ever had has been perfectly executed - he makes his characters so believable, you almost forget you're watching a movie. I also really loved that scene where Jack's sitting in the bar in the Gold Room as it would have looked in the 1920s/30s(?) and there's flapper girls everywhere.
Overall it was a truly enjoyable film.
As for "American Psycho", there was a little too much sex and not enough violence. Christian Bale was a perfect choice for the role of Patrick Bateman, though. Just the way he delivers his lines without any trace of emotion is so creepy/brilliant. Besides, I think everyone has met at least one person who'd prefer to gaze at themselves in the mirror when they're f
ucking, because they're
just that attractive.
