Try not to think about "performing well". When you're all wrapped up in those sorts of details, the important parts get abandoned. Just get into what you're doing as though you were in the band room. It's hard to shut your brain off with all the people watching, but if you cannot successfully do it without alcohol, then I would recommend a drink or two to take that edge off.
