Sonny & the Sunsets -
Antenna to the Afterworld (2013)
Streaming this on Spotify right now, first I've listened to this band. I don't remember where I learned of them, but I had this and maybe a previous album in my Amazon wishlist. Older material is said to be mainly Alt-Country, but it's pretty subtle here. This reminds me quite a bit of
Silver Jews, which are of course partly Alt-Country/Americana, but also heavy on the Indie side of things. This is a bit more quirky than Silver Jews, at times reminding me a bit of
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and some 80s punk/indie. Quite enjoyable so far, I have a feeling this will be in heavy rotation.
