Star Trek, I kind of agree with you might be boring and a bit much to take in but try the newer ones from JJ Abrams. They are a bit more accessible.
I think now that you are older you will appreciate the philosophical and religious themes within Star Wars while being entertained at the same time. It's a bit deeper than you think it is.
Plus you were little then so why not try it out now that you are older? or are you still little?
